About
Cooke Livestock
Cooke
Livestock is located near Blackie, Alberta, Canada
by the foothills of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Grant & Sharon
Cooke have been breeders of Miniature Donkeys since 1988. We
are both third generation grain and cattle farmers. The
year 2005 marks the 100th year that this farm
has been in our family!
During
the past 39 years we have raised Champion Arabian
horses and commercial cattle. Over the past
10 years we have gathered together a select
herd of registered Black Angus which are producing quality
breeding cattle. With this experience and
background we have carefully developed a proven
and successful breeding program for our Miniature
Donkeys.
Our
breeding program is based on donkeys that have predictable
genetics, excellent conformation, athletic ability, good
balance and attractive phenotype.
The
Circle C Miniature Donkey herd consists of
about 130 donkeys. We have assembled
a group of 45 quality, proven breeding jennets who
are consistent producers. Many of the jennies have
been show Champions and most have produced show Champions. To
compliment the jennets Circle C has 4 excellent
breeding jacks, who have been Champions in the show ring
and have sired Champions consistently throughout North
America and the UK. In addition we have a
select group of younger jennets and 3 junior herd sires
who will become part of our future breeding program. The
balance of our herd includes some select breeding quality
jacks that are available for sale as well as a group
of performance geldings, also available for sale.
